MODULES

Mathematics

You will learn to work with mathematical information, as well as the ability to think logically and independently, consider accuracy, model situations mathematically, analyse results and reflect on findings. You will learn how to extend your range of mathematical skills and techniques and use them in more difficult, unstructured problems.

Further Mathematics

This module is intended for high ability learners who have achieved, or are likely to achieve, a high grade in the Cambridge International A Level Mathematics examination. You can study it alongside or after taking A Level Mathematics. This module gives you a foundation for further studies in any science or maths-based course, ranging from Computer Science, Medical Sciences, and Psychology to Statistics, Management and Actuarial Science.

Chemistry

This module will help you see in new ways the things that make up the world; our food, fuels and fabrics, building materials and manufactured goods, the air we breathe, the tools we use. You will learn about atoms and reactions, bonding and structure, hydrocarbons, polymers and alcohols, amongst others. This is an ideal module if you wish to pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Dentistry, Dietetics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Geology, Medical Science, Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Sports Science, or Veterinary Science.

Biology

This module contains elements of biochemistry, physiology, and ecology. You will learn about cells as the units of life, biochemical processes, DNA, and cells, amongst others. It is a great choice if you want to pursue a career in health and clinical professions.

Physics

This module will enhance your essential knowledge and understanding of physics and the applications of physics in new and changing situations. You'll learn about particles, electricity, mechanics, materials, quantum phenomena and waves, momentum, gravitational and electric fields, and magnetic fields, amongst others. This is the perfect module if you choose to pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Computing, Electronics, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Geology, Medical Science, Medicine, Meteorology, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Sports Science or Veterinary Science.

Economics

This module will introduce you to economic concepts and theories through a critical consideration of current economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. You will learn about a range of fundamental economic ideas, including the price system and government intervention, international trade and exchange rates, market failure, the theory of the firm, the measurement of employment and inflation, and the causes and consequences of inflation. You will also study the theory of the firm, market failure, macroeconomic theory and policy, and economic growth and development.
